Brian Langtry
Brian and Ron Burns

Legless Productions was formed some 10 years ago by good friends and entertainment colleagues, Brian Langtry and Ron Burns. Ron was a well known Black Country comic/poet whilst Brian had, in 1971, formed the Black Country`s favourite folk group "Giggetty". For the uninitiated the "Black Country" is a discrete area of the West Midlands including those towns and villages situated on a 30 foot coal seam and is in many ways the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.

Tragically Ron passed away in 1998 leaving behind a wealth of material and memories that will live forever in the minds and ears of those Black Country folk who both knew him and were fortunate enough to have watched him perform.

Brian sang with "Giggetty", a group who produced 4 L.P.s; 6 cassette recordings, featured in some 80 T.V. appearances between 1976 and 1997 and hosted their own weekly local radio show for a period of 2 years, up until ill health forced an end to live appearances. Seeking a way to exercise the creative `little grey cells` Brian started to write for the amateur theatre market focussing predictably upon plays with music thus allowing him to retain the focus of his first artistic love. With a friend Steve Andrews the first music biop," The Middle of Nowhere- the story of Dusty Springfield" was produced. The play won several festival awards and toured the Midlands twice. The success of this moved Brian closer towards involvement in the professional sector of theatre.

In 2000 Brian formed Beesknees Touring Theatre which toured small scale venues and studios with a variety of self penned new works. This was indeed am extremely valuable and very steep learning curve requiring Brian to take on the roles of writer, marketing executive, director, administrator, fund raiser,sound/lights, the occasional treading of the boards and of course transport and tea making.

There followed " The Eva Cassidy Story " ( currently in its 8th. U.K./European tour ) and then, with a colleague and friend, Len Holden Brian wrote " The Billie Holiday Story " which toured throughout the UK throughout 2006/07. Small scale tours of " Hello I`m Johnny Cash ", starring Brian himself, took place in 2005/06. Waiting in the wings is " Pearl, The Janis Joplin Story".

This new site has been established to serve the needs of groups and societies seeking new, accessable, enjoyable plays which will challenge, delight, and bring fulfilment to actors and audiences alike.
